Realme 2 Pro updated with fingerprint shooting and February security patch!

Realme’s last year flagship smartphone, the Realme 2 Pro, is now updated with new a feature and security patch update.

The RMX1803EX_11_A.16 update, which weighs 145MB, enables fingerprint shooting and February 2019 Android Security Patch. This feature has been a longtime request from users, but Realme promised that the update will be rolled out the end of February. No other features were included with the update this is due to the anticipated release of the ColorOS 6 for all existing Realme devices. Surprisingly, even the entry-level Realme C1 will receive a ColorOS 6 update.

Realme recently launched the Realme 3 in India which ships with ColorOS 6 on top of Android 9 Pie. And from the looks of it, Realme has really polished the OS with bases from the users requests. For example, the new UI now includes an app drawer which we really appreciate. The camera now has a new UI, far from the iPhone-like interface. And for the first time, the ColorOS 6 now ships with Camera2 API enabled. That means users will be able to use third-party camera solutions like the GCam.

There is no news when the ColorOS 6 starts rolling out for Realme handsets. However, Realme CEO for India, Madhav Sheth, once mentioned it will be somewhere between Q1 or Q2 this year.

The Realme 2 Pro is the first Realme device to adopt a display with a “Waterdrop” notch. It’s a 6.3-inch LTPS IPS LCD panel with Full HD+ resolution reinforced with Gorilla Glass 3. Powering the handset is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AE SoC with up to 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. The phone shipped with ColorOS 5.2 (based on Android 8 Oreo). But as mentioned, it’s upgradeable to ColorOS 6.

For the imaging, the Realme 2 Pro has dual rear-facing cameras. One is a 16MP (f/1.7) camera and a 2MP depth sensor for bokeh shots. On the front, there is also a 16MP camera with a wide f/2.0. lens. The primary camera can shoot up to 4K @ 30fps (no EIS), while the front maxes out to 1080p Full HD @30fps. Both support HDR capture.
